Friday was our 9th anniversary and we spent the weekend enjoying each others company. On the big day itself we went to a yard sale at the UU church down the street. They had a ton of really great things and I found a couple of really nice old cookbooks and a great book called Leaves Of Gold. I thought it was Walt Whitman because I had it confused with Leaves Of Grass. It's actually a beautiful multi-denomination inspiration book. I also managed to find a couple of sales books and a waffle maker. The people working the sale were so friendly I'm thinking about checking out the services there later this month.
After that we went and took pictures in the nearby park. I had fun trying to wrangle the geese so he could get a good shot and one of them started to follow me. They were loud and cranky about being slow chased by me. I'd left my long lens at home so most of my shots didn't come out the best. I got a lot of duck butts and the like. I'll post some as soon as I finish going through them. By the time we got to the rose garden the light was harsh and it was getting hot so we're going back next weekend.
On Saturday we went to the reptile show and it was packed. There must have been a thousand people there. I didn't get many pics, but I got a stack of business cards that is 2 inches high. I got to see what my Jane will look like when she's full grown and I can't wait! I also got to get several different reptiles and bugs. Sadly my darling husband stopped me from getting a bunny. It was so cute and soft, but he's right that we have enough animals. I did incite several children to pet it and hopefully one of them saved it. I met some great reptile rescuers http://www.sonorandesertreptiles.com. They will definitely be my first call if I run into anything I can't handle. Give them some love if you can so we can get their name out there.
Sunday we stayed home and watched World War Z. It was a good movie, but didn't have as much action as I'd thought it would. The story was engaging though and I can't wait to read the book. It's a scary yet thoughtful movie and was a great way to end our weekend. It was a ton of fun, but now it's time to get back to work!
I hope you all had a great weekend too!
Happy anniversary - and many more of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteCongratulations on the anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThe WWZ book is amazing and the movie seems to have very little to do with it from what I have seen. If you are really into zombies, there are a ton of good ebooks out there - my wife has read about a hundred by now, on her Kindle!
I love zombies! Has she read the Newsflesh series by Mira Grant yet? It's one of the best out there.
DeleteI will have to ask her - she is currently on a series that plots a series of paralel characters during an outbreak - I think the current one is called Day 13.
DeleteWhat a nice weekend! Reptile shows are so fun. We got our king snake at one over a year ago. Nice people!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!!
I love the shows! It's where we got Jane and the people are really great there.
